ERI-27435LP5 | GaAs HBT MMIC VCO/DIVIDE-BY-4, 10-13 GHz

ERI-27435LP5 is a GaAs HBT monolithic microwave integrated circuit that combines a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) with a divide-by-4 frequency divider. The device operates over a 10–13 GHz frequency range, while the divided output provides a 2.5–3.25 GHz signal. The main RFOUT port delivers a typical output power of 16 dBm and is internally matched to a 50 Ω impedance.

Frequency tuning is performed by applying a VTUNE control voltage ranging from 0 to 13 V. The typical single-sideband phase noise is −90 dBc/Hz at a 100 kHz offset. The RFOUT/4 divider output provides a typical output power of −3 dBm; an external 100 pF DC-blocking capacitor is required for this output.

The device operates from a +5 V supply through separate VD (RF) and VD (Dig) pins for the RF oscillator and digital frequency divider, respectively. The operating current is up to 200 mA. External 100 pF and/or 1 nF bypass capacitors are required for both supply pins. The operating temperature range is −40 to +85 °C. The maximum supply voltage is +5.5 V, and the maximum tuning voltage is +14 V.

The device is housed in a 32-lead 5 × 5 mm QFN package with an exposed thermal pad. All GND pins and the central exposed pad must be connected to the common RF/DC ground. The IC is sensitive to electrostatic discharge, so appropriate ESD protection measures are required during handling and assembly. The device is suitable for reflow soldering, with a maximum reflow temperature of 265 °C.
